Rules: |
The following rules apply to club tournaments. Any rule violation is to be reported to the tournament director.
1. Only largemouth and smallmouth bass will be weighed. The limit of fish is five per boat. State slot limits shall be observed. All fish will be measured with a Golden Rule. All fish must be measured with a close mouth and pinched tail.
2. The official weight will be determined by digital scale.
3. If no fish is caught which meets minimum water length, no prize will be awarded. If there is no second or third place as determined by weighable fish, these prizes will not be awarded either. Prize money not awarded will go to the club tournament reserve fund. This fund will be used to the benefit of the club as determined by the members.
4. No live or prepared baits are permitted to be used during tournaments with the exception of pork rind type baits.
5. Trolling is prohibited.
6. Each contestant must supply his/her own Coast Guard approved life vest and must wear such vest at all times when the boat is under main engine power. The vest must be secured properly.
7. No contestant shall consume alcoholic beverages or non-prescription drugs, with the exception of aspirin type painkillers or cold remedies, during tournament hours or at the tournament site.
8. No contestant will fish from a boat whose main engine horsepower rating exceeds the Coast Guard recommended rating appearing on the boat. Boats must be operated in a safe manner. All Coast Guard rules and state laws governing the particular body of water being fished must be observed.
9. All contestants will comply with the starting and check in times established by the tournament director, in accordance with the time kept by him and announced prior to the tournament. A penalty of two ounces will be assessed for each minute a contestant is late to the check in. A contestant is late anytime after the exact time established. (Example: If you check in at one second after 4:00 and the check in time is 4:00 then you are late.) The director of the tournament will establish an area the boats must arrive at by the end of the tournament. A contestant later then fifteen minutes, for any reason, without a valid excuse will have his/her entire catch disqualified. Only the tournament rules committee can validate an excuse.
10. A five-ounce penalty will be assessed per dead fish.
11. Contestants must arrive one half hour prior to the start of the tournament.
12. The director of the tournament’s designee will inspect all boats. Any part of or item in the boat is subject to inspection. The boat owner must be present at the time of the inspection.
13. All contestants are subject to a polygraph (lie detector) test. Refusal to take the test results in automatic forfeiture of winning and weights.
14. The director of the tournament makes the final rulings of rules and penalties. Appeals can be made to the tournament committee who will forward their recommendations to the members for vote.
Scoring
1. Individual tournaments will be scored on a pounds and ounces basis. Teams will be ranked in descending order beginning with the heaviest weight. The largest bass will also be determined be weight.
2. In the event of a tie in weight for a particular position, first, second, or third, the awards will be combined and split among the teams tied. Example: If first place has been established but two teams are tied for second place, the second and third place awards shall be combined and split between those two teams. There would be no third place award.
3. Angler(s) of the Year standings will be on a point basis. 1st place = 100 points, 2nd place = 95 points, 3rd place = 90 points, 4th place = 85 points, and so on.
Awards and Fees
1. Cash awards shall be given 1 place every 4 boats up to 3rd place and to the member catching the heaviest bass. Example ( 4 boats= 1 place payout, 8 boats= 2 place payout, 9 and up= 3 place payout)
2. The 2009 entry fee for club tournaments is $40 includes big fish. The 2009 entry fee for open tournaments is $50 (excludes United Way Charity Tournament) includes big fish.The president shall determine the fees for tournaments each year and present his recommendation to the members for approval. Two dollars from each fee shall be escrowed to the club.
3. At the conclusion of the tournament season, awards will be presented to those teams that finished first, second, and third in overall standings. An award will also be presented to the member(s) who caught the biggest bass of the year.
Partners
1. Members will choose their partners for the year before the first tournament.
2. Members may fish with a non-member. Total fish weight will count towards the teams’ weight. If a non-member fishes in three club tournaments in one year he must join the club to be eligible to fish in further club events.
